Particularly influenced by nature, history, growth and decay and elements of Japan, my work emerges from a combination of visual reference and intuition. Exploring concepts of energy and time through texture and color, stenciling and patterns create layers and repetitive motions to emphasize this. Often times creating stencils from shapes and fragmented imagery from past work, the paintings start to build on their own history to inform the new vision.
Brittany E Lampe is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati Design Art Architecture and Planning program with a minor in marketing. She has exhibited in Tokyo, Cincinnati, Raleigh, Wilmington, San Diego and a variety of local venues. Although born and raised in Cincinnati, her career and personal life has taken her from Cincinnati to North Carolina, Okinawa Japan and back to North Carolina, with the bulk of her recent work inspiration heavily influenced by the natural landscapes around her and experiences during her travels. She has always found interest in her layer based process, leaving more to be seen than just the surface image, and a little mystery for the viewer. Her use of color and vibrancy aims to grab the viewer by the eyeballs, and then continue to draw them closer with the small details of the painting.
She currently resides in coastal North Carolina. In her free time she is usually outside, researching a trip or adventure, or running.
